Jesus often taught using natural elements—farmers, seeds, wind, water—to help us understand spiritual realities. He revealed that what we see in the natural often mirrors what is happening in the spiritual.
So I find myself wondering: Is what we’re experiencing in nature reflective of what is happening in the hearts of our nation?
This extreme cold… this bitterness in the air—could it be symbolic of a deeper spiritual condition? I pray that it is not.
By the authority given to me through the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, I declare that hearts will be softened, just as You promise in Ezekiel 36:26—I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
I believe true transformation in our nation begins with each of us. When each of us pauses long enough to ask the Lord:
“Holy Spirit, is my heart hardened?
Is there bitterness I need to surrender to You?”
One thing I’ve learned over the past three years—more deeply in the last three months—is that emotions are not just emotions. They are indicators. Like the engine light on a car’s dashboard, they signal that something needs attention. We can’t stuff them or hide them; they will reveal themselves, whether you like it or not.
We’ve become quick to judge and quick to anger. Scripture tells us there is righteous anger and unrighteous anger—and discernment is required to know the difference.
I’ve been reflecting on worship. When a worship song is written from a heart of true worship, that intention is embedded within it. Every time the song is played, that original offering of worship is rereleased.
But what if the opposite is also true?
If something is written from a place of anger, bitterness, or hatred, does it not carry that same resonance?
And what about our everyday communication? Our conversations? Our posts? Our “truth-telling”?
Do words carry the emotion that it was said? Is there an intent to words that we say?
We can say all the right words. God hears our hallelujahs and our praises—but He also knows the heart behind them. Are we truly honoring Him? Or are coldness and bitterness hidden beneath polished language?
Could it be that the atmosphere is filled with “right” words—but the intention behind them is frozen?
These are the things I ponder.
So I ask You, Holy Spirit—search me. Show me where bitterness has taken root. Where my heart has grown hard. Soften me, Lord, that I may see through Your lens and not my own.
Help me to communicate without my emotions being hijacked by the puppeteer of this world.
Thank You, God, for Your love.
Thank You for Your mercy.
Thank You that You are softening hearts—even now.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
