I love it when God lays on my heart something to pounder and today was one of those days. I stepped out the back door to go jog, I was planning on going farther today so I had already made up my mind not to push it. The sun was shining bright and the breeze was gentle and cool. Traffic was not too bad as I began to focus on my pace, repeating in my head; ‘this is going to be a gentle jog.’ Once I got comfortable, not worrying about what I might look like to the oncoming traffic I was able to just allow my thoughts to wonder. I usually pray for different individuals during this time and worship in my spirit the greatness of God.
It is spring break in the area in which I live and with the warm sun the children were out early playing. It was so sweet to see all these little people playing on their porches, backyards and decks. I found great joy as I glanced at them when I jogged by.
Then I started to think of when my kids were little, ah remembering of how much of an imagination they had back then. Recalling those times they had played ‘dress up’ I had to smile to myself. Gosh they were so young, but wow did they know their part (so to speak) of royalty. I don’t even think they were old enough to understand such things, I mean the magnificent beauty of the princess and the grand valor of the young prince saving the castle keeping the evil men from taking control.
That is when the thoughts started to roll. What if it isn’t just the imagination of a child? What if they know knew who they really are?
Read Psalm 139:14-16
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made (created); your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
God ‘speaks’ when he creates, look at Genesis chapter one. I truly believe that God, the King of kings (1 Timothy 6:15) spoke over each of us as He knitted us in the depths of the earth. God told each of us that we are His princes and princesses over and over, and to keep our sights on the things that are not seen. Think about it, when we were born our little spirits had just been with God’s spirit, and He affirmed to us that we are His children (Romans 8:16).
So the next time you see these precious little ones playing in their royal court, wearing their crowns of gold, you have to ask yourself; Is it really child’s play, or do they know their true identity in the Kingdom of God?
