Taking steps to the future we dream of.
We can be more aware of our design purpose if we stop to recognize what the enemy is targeting. Because he only attacks what is a threat to him. By recognizing these attacks for what they are to stop us, we will be empowered to step forward boldly rather than the attacks making us question if we are doing the right thing, which paralyzes us.
The enemy will attack if he recognizes the specific potential in us that he fears. His common attacks are his questions, which make us overanalyze, which causes paralysis and unbelief. He will distort that ‘thing’ we are passionate about and have us question it. He will always ask us questions, leading us to deception and, eventually, unbelief.
I once heard a pastor teach unbelief is a partnership with the demonic.
When we look at the first temptation in the Garden of Eden, it wasn’t to eat from the forbidden tree but to question what God said.
When the Lord poses questions, it’s not to confuse but to illuminate and guide us on our journey. His questions heighten our awareness of the truth, leading to understanding, revelation, and greater faith.
The enemy’s questions do the opposite.
In the Old Testament, the story of Israel’s journey from Egypt to the Promised Land shows that they were attacked by an enemy nation whenever they were close to another victory. So, the implication is that when we are under attack, it is because we are a threat to the enemy and close to victory.
Satan attempts to make us turn inward (our abilities) instead of keeping our eyes on the things above and what can be accomplished with God.
At some point, we need to resolve as believers that we will live with absolute abandonment and trust in the word of God. It is the only book we read where the author shows up; it is alive—the Living Word of God.
We must allow God’s word to influence us and apply it to our lives, thus shaping us into the people we are designed to be.
Some of us might have been on the journey longer than others, and we wouldn’t deny the word of God, but we deny that we are hearing from God. That is interconnected, and the enemy will try make us doubt our ability and designed to hear from God. Again, to hear God is not a gift, not a place of breakthrough; we are all created to hear from the Lord.
When we recognize the things in our lives that the enemy is questioning and answer those questions with what God says, we will begin to see ourselves taking steps toward the future we dream of.
Psalm 20:4
May he give you the desire of your heart and fulfill all your plans.
